Profile pictures

Most apps crop profile pictures to a circle themselves. A round PNG is useful for slides, documents, email signatures and websites.

Questions about Circle crop

Are my images uploaded when I crop it to a circle?

No. Scissor Image runs an image engine written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser tab. Your images are read from your device into the page's memory, processed there and saved back to your device. The site has no upload endpoint, and its Content Security Policy blocks the page from sending data to any other server.

Why is the result a PNG?

JPG cannot store transparency, so the corners would turn white. PNG keeps them transparent.

Can I make an oval?

The circle tool keeps a perfect circle. For other shapes, use Crop image.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free, with no account, no daily limit and no watermark added to your images. Because the work happens on your own device, there is no server cost per image for us to recover.
