How to split an image

  1. Choose or drop your image.
  2. Pick a grid, or enter rows and columns.
  3. Select Split, then download the tiles as a ZIP.

Carousels and grids

A 1 × 3 split turns a panorama into a seamless Instagram carousel. A 3 × 3 split makes a profile grid; post the tiles from 9 to 1 so they appear in order.

Tile order

Tiles are numbered in reading order, left to right and top to bottom, so 01 is the top-left tile.

Questions about Split image

Are my images uploaded when I split it?

No. Scissor Image runs an image engine written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser tab. Your images are read from your device into the page's memory, processed there and saved back to your device. The site has no upload endpoint, and its Content Security Policy blocks the page from sending data to any other server.

How many tiles can I make?

Up to 10 rows and 10 columns, so up to 100 tiles.

Are all tiles the same size?

Yes. If the image does not divide evenly, a few pixels at the right or bottom edge are left out.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free, with no account, no daily limit and no watermark added to your images. Because the work happens on your own device, there is no server cost per image for us to recover.
