How to convert JPG to PNG

  1. Choose or drop your JPG images. You can add several.
  2. Check the options.
  3. Select Convert to PNG, then download the image or a ZIP of all of them.

Why PNG

Some forms, design tools and print services ask for PNG. Converting stops further quality loss each time the image is edited and saved again.

Quality

The pixels are copied exactly; nothing is lost in the conversion. The new file can be larger than the original because PNG and lossless WebP do not throw detail away.

Questions about JPG to PNG

Are my images uploaded when I convert JPG to PNG?

No. Scissor Image runs an image engine written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser tab. Your images are read from your device into the page's memory, processed there and saved back to your device. The site has no upload endpoint, and its Content Security Policy blocks the page from sending data to any other server.

Can I convert several images at once?

Yes. Add as many as you like; each is converted, and you download them together as a ZIP file.

What happens to transparent areas?

JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas become white. PNG and WebP keep transparency exactly.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free, with no account, no daily limit and no watermark added to your images. Because the work happens on your own device, there is no server cost per image for us to recover.
