What a photo can reveal

The camera and lens, shutter speed, aperture, ISO and focal length, the date and time, editing software, the artist and copyright and, from phones, the GPS coordinates and altitude where it was taken.

Remove everything or just the location

Remove all details for the safest copy, or only the location to keep the camera and date for your own records.

Questions about Photo details

Are my images uploaded when I check them?

No. Scissor Image runs an image engine written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser tab. Your images are read from your device into the page's memory, processed there and saved back to your device. The site has no upload endpoint, and its Content Security Policy blocks the page from sending data to any other server.

Why can't I see any details?

Many apps and websites remove them already, and screenshots never have them. HEIC photos are read in Safari only.

Is the location exact?

Phones usually store it to within a few metres, which is why it is worth removing before sharing photos taken at home.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free, with no account, no daily limit and no watermark added to your images. Because the work happens on your own device, there is no server cost per image for us to recover.
